Programs & Events

A great way to get to know people in the church and to be encouraged in your faith is to join one of our mid-week ministries. There are several to choose from; call the church for more information. For the latest information on what is happening in the church check out our monthly calendar or view the list below.

Sunday Morning

On Sunday mornings and evenings the church family meets in the auditorium for morning worship and evening worship.

Morning Service 10:00 AM

Nursery is available for children 0-3 (see Nursery Notes)

Junior Church:  This is offered during the morning service.  It’s for kids between 4-7.  The children start upstairs during the corporate worship, and then are dismissed before the sermon.  Parents must sign their children in and out of the classroom.  They will learn biblical truths from trained teachers, who have at least one (1) assistant.

Evening Service 5:30 PM

During the evening service, BLAST meets 5:30-6:30 p.m. (see ‘Family Ministries)

Wednesday Prayer/Study

Wednesday Worship is a great opportunity to study the Bible and to get together with a smaller group of people in the church. You are welcome to join any time.

6:30 – 7:30 PM, Church sanctuary

(See other prayer times below.)

Family Ministries

We love families! We make an effort to accommodate family time and so we offer all of our ministries at the same time on the same night. This allows the family to come to church together, take part in some age-specific ministries and teaching and then head home together. Sunday evening from 5:30-6:30 is that special family ministry time!

The ministry title is “BLAST” – Bible Learning And Spiritual Training.

Classes are divided into BLAST OFF (0-3) and BLAST 1, BLAST 2, and BLAST 3 (for kids from 4-15). All others meet in the auditorium for preaching of the Word and fellowship.

The younger children need to be signed in and out by an adult.  This is strong biblical teaching in an age appropriate manner, by trained and enthusiastic male and female instructors. All instructors have completed Plan to Protect.

Nursery Notes

Nursery is provided both in the morning and the evening service, with the exception of business meetings.  It’s for children between 0-3, and the Plan to Protect-trained staff are there to make sure your children feel comfortable and safe while the parents are being fed from the Word of God upstairs.

Some parents choose to keep their children in the service and others prefer to have them cared for during the service.

To accommodate parents who prefer to keep their children in the service we have an open concept design; parents are able to move to the foyer should they find their children need to move around a bit, yet continue to be part of the service. If parents find their children are becoming a distraction, the Loft is available upstairs so they can go to with their children and watch the service on a monitor.

For parents who prefer to have their children in the care of our capable caregivers for the service, infant and toddler childcare (ages newborn to 3) is available in the downstairs Nursery.

Men's Ministries

Once a month the men of the church get together for breakfast at the church. The main goal of the event is to provide a time of prayer first, and than a great home cooked breakfast, where you can reconnect with or get to know a few men in the church.

When: Last Saturday morning of every month. Prayer at 6 AM, and breakfast at 7 AM

There are also many informal men’s events! Every year people need help moving, the church building and property have work to be done, there are a baseball team and plenty of other opportunities to enjoy time with each other.

Some thoughts on prayer…

“Trouble and perplexity drive me to prayer and prayer drives away perplexity and trouble”
~ Philip Melanchthon

“We have to pray with our eyes on God, not on the difficulties”
~ Oswald Chambers

“When you pray, rather let your heart be without words than your words without heart”
~ John Bunyan

“Prayer requires more of the heart than of the tongue”
~ Adam Clarke

“Prayer is the language of a man burdened with a sense of need”
~ E.M. Bounds

Prayer

Our church has been really challenged by the importance of prayer and by a deep desire for revival. In recent years, we have often asked the Lord what the psalmist asked in Psalm 85:6: “Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?”

There are several opportunities for corporate prayer each week. Why not take advantage of what works with your schedule? One cannot pray too often!

Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 1:00 PM is prayer on Zoom (open the link).

Wednesdays during the 6:30-7:30 PM. (Church Sanctuary) Wednesday Worship service. Usually, a number lead in prayer for other churches we are associated with, for those who are not well in our church family, for needs in our church family, for missions and missionaries we support etc.

Saturdays from 6:00-7:00 PM. (Downstairs in the Fireside Room) These prayer meetings tend to focus on revival, spiritual needs and the Sunday morning service. We just get together for prayer. Some slip in late and some slip out early…but for whatever time you come, it is a great opportunity to pour your heart out to God with others. Tolkien taught us that the hobbits liked “second breakfast”. For those who come to this prayer meeting, it is usually their second or third prayer meeting for the week.

NOTE: In all of our prayer times feel free to pray out loud and lead others who are there BUT you will never be put on the spot and asked to pray aloud unless the meeting leader has already asked you privately ahead of time to make sure you are comfortable with praying aloud!

Serving at Bath Road Baptist

Informal Ways to Serve

The most important way we encourage all members to serve at BRBC is through informal but intentional ministry to the people around them. The leaders of the church are called to “equip the saints for the work of ministry” (Eph 4:12). We are a body, Scripture tells us, and when we’re all equipped and serving in the unique ministries God intends for each of us, the body grows, “so that it builds itself up in love” (Eph 4:16). You’ll find lots of opportunities to serve as you open your eyes to needs of the people around you.

Here are just a few ideas:

  • Studying the Bible or reading a Christian book with neighbours or coworkers
  • Greeting and welcoming visitors to the church
  • Meeting someone for coffee and getting to know one another
  • Inviting a group for a meal and helping guests to get to know one another
  • Mowing grass or shoveling snow for a sick or an elderly member
  • Giving someone a ride to church
  • Visiting someone in the hospital or at a nursing home
  • Bringing a meal to a new mom
  • Calling a friend you haven’t seen in a while and checking in with him
  • Inviting a friend to talk through a decision or difficulty you’re facing

Formal Ways to Serve

In addition to these informal ministries, there are also more formal and structured ways for members to serve, especially as the church gathers on Sundays. We ask all of our members to serve in at least one way during our Sunday services.

  • Blast (Teaching/Assisting elementary/high school children during the evening service)
  • Church (Teaching/Assisting children age 3-7 during the morning service)
  • Nursery (Watching young children during the morning service)
  • Visitation Team (Visiting members in the hospital or in nursing homes)
  • Audio/Visual Team (Sound Board and Technical Support for Sunday Services)
  • Welcome Team (Greeting and hospitality at Sunday Services)
  • Worship Team (Musicians who are skilled to help lead the congregation in worship)
  • Kitchen Team (Cooking and serving food at church events).

If you’re a member who is looking to sign up to serve, contact one of the elders.
