About Bath Road Baptist

The Bath Road Baptist Church family is a diverse group of believers growing in our love for God and for each other! We are a pretty ordinary group of people of all ages and many different backgrounds; not too big, not too small (around 175-200). In our worship, we seek to express our love to God through a blend of traditional hymns and contemporary worship songs.

In our messages from the Bible, we seek to explain accurately what God has made known in His book, and we apply it practically. Sermons are posted on our YouTube channel (Bath Road Baptist Church), and are livestreamed at 10:00 am.

Because we believe that God has shown Himself to us most clearly in Jesus Christ, Jesus is at the centre of everything that we do. We believe that God has created us to love Him, please Him, and enjoy Him forever, and to love other people in His name.  Children are welcome and encouraged to participate in the entirety of our corporate worship, as their parents see fit. However, we also provide childcare for those who would like it with the goal of fully incorporating the children into the corporate worship service. We would love to see you this Sunday!

What to Expect

We understand that walking into a church for the first time can feel overwhelming. At Bath Road Baptist Church, our hope is that from the moment you arrive, you’ll sense that God is central to all we do—and that you are truly welcome here.

Come As You Are

There’s no dress code. Some people wear suits or dresses, others come in jeans and a t-shirt. Wear what feels comfortable to you—you’ll be warmly welcomed either way.

Our Sunday Service

Our Sunday morning service begins at 10:00 a.m. and runs until about 11:30. We start with a time of singing—a blend of contemporary worship songs and traditional hymns. Whether you’re new to church or have been attending for years, our music is chosen to help everyone connect with God and lift up the name of Jesus Christ.

Following the singing, one of our pastors (or occasionally a guest speaker) will bring a message from the Bible. If you don’t have a Bible, feel free to borrow one from the foyer—or keep it if you’d like. The focus of the message is on understanding God’s Word and how it applies to our lives today.

We typically close with prayer and a time to meet and greet those around you. If you have questions, our pastor will be available in the foyer after the service, and there’s always someone nearby who would be happy to connect with you.

Children @ Bath

There are lots of children at Bath Road! We have nursery care available for infants and toddlers up to age 3 at our morning and evening services. Children up to age 7 are dismissed for Junior Church mid-way through the morning service, though many families choose to keep their children with them.

Our BLAST (Bible Learning And Spiritual Training) ministry for kids 4-13 happens during the evening services each week.  Find out more about BLAST »

A Church Gathering in Jesus’ Name

At Bath Road, you’ll find people from a wide range of backgrounds and nationalities. What brings us together is Jesus Christ. He said that when He is lifted up, He will draw people to Himself—and that’s what we gather to do.

Our services are centered around Him. We sing to honour Jesus and to remind one another of His promises. We listen to the teaching of His Word. We regularly celebrate the Lord’s Supper, and on occasion, we witness baptisms.

More Opportunities to Connect

We also meet on Sunday evenings at 5:30 p.m. (except on long weekends). All of our services are livestreamed on YouTube and Zoom for those unable to attend in person.

After the service, we’d love it if you stayed for some refreshments—it’s a great chance to meet people and get to know one another.

One thing to remember: sometimes the people around you will be new too…so don’t hesitate to shake their hands and welcome them to church. You’ll be glad you did!

Supporting the Kingston Community

We have a keen interest in the well-being of those living in the Kingston community and surrounding area. Galatians 6:10 directs our actions to fellow believers and to those who may be in need in our community:

“So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.”

The church financially supports locally the work of the The Mea Centre (formerly Kingston Pregnancy Care Centre), a couple of Christian schools, along with Lionhearts and Martha’s Table. In addition, as community needs arise we consider how we can best help.

What We Believe

Our identity and our unity are centered on Who we believe in. We believe in Jesus Christ.

And as followers of Jesus Christ we seek to organize our life and ministry together by what he teaches us in his word. The Bath Road Baptist Church Articles of Faith summarize some of the critical Bible teaching that shapes us.

We, believing in the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour, having had an experience of a new birth by the power of the Spirit of God, believing ourselves to be new creatures in Christ, and having been baptized, on profession of faith, in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, by which we mean having been immersed in the name of the Trinity, desire and are determined to form ourselves into a Baptist Church; which we understand to mean, a church composed of persons who hold and teach these Articles of Faith (see below).

We individually and collectively approve the Nashville Statement on Biblical Sexuality.

Church Membership

At BRBC we believe that church membership matters.

We believe clear, meaningful, church membership is biblical, that it honours Jesus Christ, and that it is a blessing to everyone involved. It’s a blessing to members because the Bible calls the members of the church to care for each other in a special way. It’s a blessing to the leaders of the church because it helps them to fulfill their responsibilities before God. And it’s a blessing to those outside the church because it helps them see the distinctiveness of the body of Christ more clearly.

This distinctiveness is how church membership honours Jesus Christ as well. When we maintain the clear distinction between the church and the world, the way the Bible describes, then the beauty and power of Jesus Christ shines more brightly.

We’re glad for folks to visit and attend our services and we hope they’ll be encouraged by the preaching of God’s word and the singing of his people, but we also want to invite people in to something deeper. There’s a commitment to the Lord that we can only live out through commitment in love to one another.

How Do I Join?

There are four steps for becoming a member at BRBC:

  1. Membership Class
First, you’ll need to attend both 2-hr sessions of a membership class. These two sessions are taught by the elders and are meant to introduce you to the doctrine and the life of the church.
  2. Affirmation of Doctrine
Second, you’ll need to confirm your full agreement with the BRBC Articles of Faith and the Nashville Statement.
  3. Interview with Elders
Third, we’ll schedule an interview with elders or deacons to get to know you and hear how you came to know the Lord.
  4. Received by Congregation
Fourth, we’ll share your written testimony with the members of the church, you’ll be baptized by immersion (if you haven’t been already), and the members will vote to receive you into membership.
