Jeremy
is a young man from our church who is serving the Lord in New
Zealand with Pioneers. Jeremy's goal is to mobilize workers for the
unreached peoples groups in both short term and long term missionary endeavours.
Profile: Jeremy Bruce (Director of Mobilisation)
Growing up, Canada's wilderness wonderland proved to be an admirable playground for a boy bred with a healthy dose of mischief and misadventure. "Foxes have holes, birds of the air had nests," and I've found them all! These days however, the horizon looks a little bit different. Some would suggest upside down where birds inhabit the earth and flying foxes the air! Not too much has changed though. As Mobilisation Director for Pioneers New Zealand, I'll still endeavour to make the world my playground, taking people like yourself to its various regions, and displaying the work that God is doing and how he is inviting you to participant in His global plan!
My journey to the nations started with a Christmas gift of an adventure play set when I was 5. The little boat, plane, tent and sleeping bags, whisked me away to a world yet to be discovered. My interest in cultures and peoples grew, eventually taking me to the University of Western Ontario in '95 to study Archaeology.
God's interest in culture and people groups is a little more current, to say the least. It was during this first year at uni that I unearthed His desire for me and all peoples. I was shocked to discover that it was their futures on His heart - despite their pasts!! At the end of my first year of uni I changed my direction and focus from Archaeology at Western, to Theology at Heritage Baptist College in Cambridge Ontario.
During the five year's of study at Heritage I worked with both churched and unchurched youth, and was heavily involved with a church plant in Cambridge called New Harvest Fellowship. To finish my Bachelor of Theology requirements I began working for Pioneers in Canada - where I heard about the need in New Zealand to raise the profile of missions in the local church, and mobilise workers for Pioneers' fields.
My job and life have grown in some amazing ways since coming here, but in many ways things haven't changed all that much - as I'm still getting myself into a world of troubles, the difference being, that I'm now bringing a message of relief!
